Our second whole of life pensioner is Polish rapist and murderer Andrezej Kunowski.

In 2004 Kunowski, the possessor of an absolutely appalling record of sex offences in Poland (the Communist era aversion therapy involving mains electricity and his anatomy's softer portions didn't seem to take) was convicted of the 1997 murder of Katerina Koneva.

It is Christmas; so the spirit of goodwill demands that all thoughts of ropes and trees be put to one side. However Kunowski, like Castigador, is a walking advert for a referendum on the restoration of the death penalty; for we are compelled to keep them for as they long as they draw breath.

And one can think of more pressing applications for taxpayer funds.
