The Thoughts of Patrick Harvie
According to the 'Sunday Herald', Patrick Harvie, also known as The Sunflower Kid, a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Greens who is a beneficiary of the 'List' system, in other words a representative without a direct mandate, and an ardent homosexualist, has reported comments made by the Most. Rev Mario Conti, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Glasgow, to Strathclyde Police.
In a sermon on January 13 to mark the feast of St. Mungo, the founder of the city, Archbishop Conti remarked,
"Recent legislation to introduce civil partnerships dangerously weakens the uniqueness of marriage as a time-honoured, legally recognised and protected social reality and a fiscally privileged entity. It also implicitly places homosexual acts on a plane of moral equivalence to marital love".
The Sunday Herald reports that in his letter to William Rae, Stratchclyde's chief Constable, Harvie has requested that the Archbishop be investigated for the utterance of "homophobic" remarks, and that,
"If...prosecution would be possible...I would ask you whether you consider that Archbishop Conti's are sufficient to justify an enquiry".
Harvie has explained to himself to the newspaper by saying,
"What he said was clearly homophobic. This is a matter for the police".
Ronnie Convery, the archbishop's media guy, has been quoted as saying,
"Mr. Harvie's letter sounds like a rather predictable publicity stunt. He know perfectly well that the police have more to concern them than an archbishop defending Christian values. "
Scotland's homosexualist lobby should perhaps count themselves fortunate that others are not as vindictive as they are. This is their second public criticism of sermons by members of the Scottish Catholic hierarchy within the last three weeks; it seems that they will not be satisfied until a Catholic priest is behind bars for opposing their agenda, as happened to the unfortunate Pastor Green in Sweden (I wrote about his case in an article for 'The Washington Dispatch' entitled 'The Pastor's Off to Jail').
The crusade against Catholicism by Harvie and his fellow homosexualists leaves a particularly unpleasant taste, given the particularly fraught history of ecumenism in the west of the country. However, it also seems, in a way, quite pathetic, like small boys harrassing old people by throwing stones at their windows and running away; more of a bitch-hunt than a witch-hunt.
Convery was correct to note that the cops have better things to do than prosecute bishops, such as keeping violent homosexual criminals like Martin Hamilton off the streets.
Readers are invited to send Mr. Harvie mail to let him know what they think of his attempt to quash freedom of conscience.
